Hayley’s paintings explore the natural, raw and abundance of simplified shapes in everyday home life and travel. Using a mixture of oil paint, chalk pastel, ink and acrylic, she creates translucent fields that act as a rough draft that then build layer upon layer until the painting takes form. With an intuitive flow, the scene evolves with suggestive imagery that let the color fields take center stage. Hayley’s work conceptualizes being in the world as we know it and extracts themes of phantom comforts, Memento Mori and interrupting the old patterns by amplifying the scenes from above and below, in conjunction with lightening our loads, and enjoying what is so close. A spark of a moment that floats away, as fast like sound.
